Description
1847 US Seated Liberty silver dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse features the Liberty Seated design with thirteen stars and the date 1847 at the bottom. The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination ONE DOL. This issue had an original mintage of 190,000 coins. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver.
Condition report:
The coin shows moderate circulation wear consistent with a Fine descriptive grade, with softening to the high points of the design and legends. There is significant environmental damage, characterized by heavy green verdigris and oxidation across the left fields and devices on both the obverse and reverse. The overall surfaces are darkened and mottled. This item is uncertified.
