Lot 5:
Description
This antique watchmaker’s storage cabinet is constructed from oak and features a hinged lift-top lid. The lid opens to reveal a shallow, full-width top compartment. The front of the cabinet contains eighteen small drawers organized into six columns and three rows. The drawers are built using a light-colored secondary wood, likely pine or poplar, and feature simple joinery. One drawer is fitted with an interior divider creating six smaller compartments. The case is detailed with a stepped base and molded trim along the top edge. Each drawer is equipped with a turned, dark-stained wooden knob resting on a brass-tone washer.
Condition report:
The cabinet is in good antique condition with wear consistent with age and utilitarian use. The top lid exhibits significant circular staining, water rings, and general finish loss. There is a general accumulation of dust and surface grime throughout. The finish is uneven, having darkened in some areas while wearing thin on the edges. Minor wood shrinkage is visible in the form of slight gaps between drawer fronts and the frame. The hardware is complete and appears to be original.
