Description
A hand-carved wood fish decoy by Lawrence Bethel, designed for ice spearfishing. The decoy features a hand-painted trout pattern, transitioning from a dark blue-black dorsal side to a bright yellow ventral side, accented with scattered red and black spots along the midsection. The decoy is outfitted with four red-painted metal fins and a bifurcated blue-gray metal tail. A single metal line-attachment eyelet is mounted on the spine, and the eyes are formed by inset dark red beads.
Length: 7.5 inches.
Condition report:
The decoy shows signs of age and use consistent with active fishing. There is noticeable paint flaking and loss at the junction where the metal tail meets the wooden body. Small scuffs are present on the belly, and there is light wear along the edges of the metal fins.
