Description
This item is a hand-carved wood folk art ice fishing spearing decoy featuring a polychrome painted surface. The elongated body is constructed with several metal fins, including a dorsal fin, two pectoral fins, two pelvic fins, and an anal fin, all of which are inset into the wood. Three metal loops are secured along the top for line attachment. The underside of the belly contains two rectangular lead weights used for stabilization. The paint scheme consists of a dark olive or black top with vertical bars extending down to a light blue midsection and a yellow belly. Red paint highlights the mouth and gill slits, while the eyes are depicted with simple painted circles.

Condition report:
The decoy shows significant signs of age and active use. There is extensive paint loss, surface craquelure, and chipping to the wood, particularly at the nose and tail. All metal components, including the fins and attachment loops, show oxidation and surface rust.
