Description
A hand-carved and painted wooden duck decoy depicting a Blue-winged Teal drake. The piece is finished with a dark-toned head featuring a distinctive white crescent mark, a reddish-brown body with dark stippled patterns, and blue and white painted wing speculums. The underside is incised with the maker’s signature R.D. SCHWARM and the date 2/1986. It is equipped with a lead ballast weight secured with screws and a metal eyelet at the breast holding a short length of knotted rope.

Condition report:
The decoy is in poor to fair condition. There is a prominent area of wood loss and deep splintering along the lower side of the body. The painted surface shows widespread scuffing, abrasions, and general wear consistent with use. Several cracks are visible following the longitudinal grain of the wood on the body and underside.
