Description
A hand-carved and painted wooden decorative duck decoy by Robert Butch Hutchinson depicting a Redhead drake (Aythya americana). The figure features a rounded reddish-brown head with a dark bill tipped in white and black. The body is constructed with a black breast and rump, contrasting with a grayish-white back and flanks. The plumage is detailed with fine black vermiculation and secondary feathers rendered in shades of brown and tan to simulate realistic feather patterns. The decoy is finished with a short, slightly pointed tail and sits on a flat, unweighted base. The underside is marked with a centered, eye-shaped brand containing the name HUTCH in block letters. Handwritten in black ink above the brand is Red Head Drake, and to the right is the signature Butch followed by the date 1980.

Condition report:
This item is in excellent original condition. There is very minor paint loss and rubbing present at the extreme tip of the tail. A small area of adhesive residue is visible on the center of the underside. No structural cracks, chips, or repairs are evident.
