Lot 136:
Description
Large stoneware presentation bowl by Ann Donovan for Petrified Forest pottery. The hand-wrought ceramic piece features a shallow, undulating form with a characteristically irregular rim. The interior is decorated with naturalistic botanical leaf-press impressions of maple leaves, finished in mottled forest and sage green glazes with dark brown veining. The background and exterior exhibit a coarse, sandy-textured tan and brown finish. The underside bears a central circular potter mark, an incised stylized D within an oval for Ann Donovan, and an incised cursive signature reading Redwood NY and dated 92.
Diameter: 12.25 inches.
Condition report:
The bowl is in excellent condition, showing no visible chips, cracks, or professional repairs. The variations in the rim and the coarse texture of the clay body are intentional design characteristics of the hand-crafted piece.
