Description
Kate Adams (American, 20th/21st Century). A fine miniature quilt titled Four Stars, dated 2002. The piece is constructed from hand-sewn antique calico fabrics sourced from the 19th and early 20th centuries, rendered in a 1 inch scale. The composition features four central eight-pointed star blocks surrounded by multiple geometric borders including flying geese and square-in-a-square patterns. The color palette includes shades of madder red, indigo blue, ochre yellow, and tan. The miniature quilt is mounted within a deep off-white mat and housed in a square wooden frame with a sunburst-patterned veneer featuring radial graining. The artwork is hand-signed, titled, and dated in pencil on the mat below the textile. The verso includes a printed studio label from Kate Adams Fine Miniature Quilts, which is hand-inscribed with the title Four Stars, identified as edition one in a series of six, and signed and dated 2002.
