Description
A contemporary miniature quilt titled Ohio Star Sawtooth by artist Kate Adams, created in 2003. This hand-sewn textile is meticulously rendered in a one-inch scale utilizing authentic 19th and early 20th-century antique cotton calico fabrics. The design features two central Ohio Star blocks in yellow and dark green/blue tones, framed by red and white sawtooth borders and wider blue calico borders. The quilt is shadow-box mounted on a cream mat and housed in a substantial wooden frame with a dark reddish-brown faux grain-painted finish imitating tiger maple. The piece is signed, titled, and dated by the artist in pencil on the mat directly below the textile: Ohio Star Sawtooth 2003 Kate Adams. The verso retains a comprehensive printed and handwritten artist label from Kate Adams Fine Miniature Quilts, detailing the research and materials used. The label confirms this piece is number one in a series of six, signed by the artist and dated 2003.
