Lot 238:
Description
This ornithological print features a Common Teal (Anas crecca) by Danish artist Mads Stage. The work is rendered in a naturalistic style with soft washes and detailed feathering, characteristic of Stage’s wildlife illustrations. The duck is depicted resting among reeds and leafy branches. The image is presented within an oval-cut cream mat and a dark-stained wood rectangular frame. The lower right of the image bears the printed inscription, Anas crecca, Common Teal, followed by the artist’s name in script. The verso features a black ink stamp from Framed Picture Enterprise, a division of B. A. F. Mfg. located in Memphis, Tennessee, with handwritten order number 6282 and item number 148.
Height: 16.75 inches.
Condition report:
The frame shows scattered scuffing and small nicks along the edges, particularly on the top and bottom rails. The backing paper is intact with some toning and minor tears. The print itself appears well-preserved within the frame.
