Description
This vintage American flag features the 48-star configuration, which served as the official national ensign of the United States from 1912 to 1959. The flag is constructed from a heavyweight canvas fabric. The design includes thirteen alternating red and white sewn stripes and a blue canton with forty-eight white stars arranged in six horizontal rows of eight stars each. The hoist is made of a reinforced white canvas material and contains two metal grommets for mounting. Faint black stenciling or lettering is visible on the upper portion of the hoist, including the word SIZE followed by partially illegible alphanumeric characters. Size is 22 x 34.5 inches
Condition report:
The textile is in fair to good vintage condition, exhibiting characteristics consistent with age and previous use. There is some yellowing, foxing, and brown staining throughout the white stripes and the canvas hoist. Fraying and edge wear are visible along the perimeter, particularly at the fly end. The material remains structurally intact with no major tears or visible repairs. General surface grime and a heavy patina are present across the fabric.
