Description
This vintage framed crewel embroidery depicts a Great Horned Owl perched on a branch. The artwork is rendered using wool yarn in various embroidery stitches on a natural-toned, coarse-weave textile substrate. The owl features a color palette of dark brown, tan, and cream tones, accented by vibrant orange yarn used for the eyes, a horizontal band on the wing, and the talons. The owl is perched on a single branch worked in shades of olive green and brown. The piece is housed in a simple, dark-stained wooden frame. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are visible on the front of the piece.
