Description
A hand-carved and painted folk art walking stick or staff featuring a whimsical character head topper. The topper depicts a stylized figure with large protruding ears, a bald head, and an expressive face with one open blue eye and one closed winking eye. The nose features a carved bandage detail, and the wide mouth reveals two individual teeth. The entire piece is finished in a mottled green, grey, and brown palette with painted highlights on the facial features. The staff is constructed from wood with a visible seam where the carved head is joined to the shaft. The shaft retains a slightly irregular, natural form. No maker marks or signatures are present.
