Description
This textile is a large-format bed quilt featuring a traditional repeating star pattern, identified as a variation of the Blazing Star or Feathered Star motif. The piece is constructed with hand-pieced cotton fabrics in a palette of red, navy, and tan floral prints and calicoes. These star motifs are set against cream-colored cotton panels. The blocks are separated by a dark forest green sashing featuring a repeating gold diamond print. The intersections and borders include pieced triangular sawtooth accents. Extensive hand-quilting is visible throughout, featuring a diagonal grid pattern on the cream grounds and outline stitching along the star patterns. The quilt appears to be of queen or king size. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are visible.
Condition report:
The quilt is in excellent condition. No stains, fraying, holes, or visible repairs were observed. The fabric colors are bright and the hand-quilting is intact.
