Description
This antique schoolhouse or institutional recitation bench is designed in the late 19th to early 20th-century style, frequently attributed to manufacturers such as A. H. Andrews and Co. The bench features a solid hardwood seat and backrest, likely oak or maple, finished in a warm reddish-brown stain. The seat is slightly contoured for ergonomic comfort. It is supported by two heavy, black-painted iron leg assemblies. The left-side support includes a decorative curved bracket used for securing the piece in a row or to a desk unit, while the right side features a standard vertical support. The feet are pre-drilled for floor mounting.

Condition report:
The bench is in good antique condition and is structurally sound. The wood surfaces exhibit age-appropriate wear, including scattered scratches, scuffs, and minor gouges, particularly on the upper left portion of the backrest. The finish is somewhat uneven and shows wear from use. The iron legs show minor surface wear and small areas of paint loss.
