Description
A vintage seated piggy bank attributed to the Alexander Backer Co. The figurine is constructed of chalkware with a matte black finish, featuring hand-painted white floral sprigs on the body and legs. The ears and snout are finished in a contrasting pale pink tone. A coin slot is located at the top of the head. The base of the figurine is marked with a copyright symbol and the names Alexander and A. Backer Co. The lot also includes a set of four rectangular toleware snack trays made of lacquered metal. Each tray is decorated with a central bouquet of red and orange roses on a black ground, surrounded by a gilt scrollwork border.

Condition report:
The piggy bank exhibits significant chipping to the tips of both ears and minor chipping on the snout. There are scattered scuff marks and small paint losses across the matte black finish, primarily concentrated around the feet and lower base. The toleware trays are in good vintage condition with minor surface scratches and light shelf wear to the gilt borders consistent with age and use.
