Description
This Victorian-era pickle castor consists of a clear glass jar, a silver-plated lid, an ornate silver-plated stand, and a pair of matching silver-plated tongs. The glass jar features a deep-cut pattern of vertical fluting and diamond-shaped motifs. The silver-plated lid is topped with a decorative finial depicting a circular emblem with a diagonal cross-bar. The stand features a tall arched handle with a scrolling crest at the apex and a hook on one side for hanging the tongs. The base of the stand is decorated with an embossed geometric and floral border and rests on four cast decorative feet. The piece exhibits illegible impressed marks on the underside of the base.Height: 10.5 inches.
Condition report:
The silver plating shows significant wear and heavy tarnish across all metal components, with the underlying base metal clearly visible on the handle, tongs, and lid. The glass jar appears to be in good condition with no chips, cracks, or visible repairs. The metal stand remains structurally sound.
