Description
A contemporary American redware earthenware shallow bowl or deep plate produced by Ned Foltz at Foltz Pottery in Reinholds, Pennsylvania. The piece is executed in the traditional Pennsylvania German folk art style. The glazed interior features a central honey-yellow slip-trailed silhouette of a pig against a dark chocolate-brown glaze. The rim is decorated with a sponged yellow border accented by dark brown circular motifs and finished with a coggled or crimped edge. The exterior of the bowl is unglazed terracotta. The base is incised with the cursive signature Ned Foltz and Reinhold. It also bears a circular impressed stamp reading FOLTZ POTTERY above a stylized hand symbol.

Condition report:
The piece is in excellent condition with no observed chips, cracks, repairs, or signs of crazing. The glaze remains glossy and bright.
