Description
This is a circular railroad crossing (RXR) advanced warning sign, standard model W10-1, manufactured for use by the Pennsylvania Department of Highways (PDH). The sign is constructed of heavy-gauge painted metal featuring a yellow background with a black border and a large black X centered between two black R characters. A small circular emblem containing the letters PDH is printed at the bottom center, a mark signifying the sign was produced prior to the 1970 establishment of PennDOT. The sign includes four vertically aligned pre-drilled holes for mounting.

Condition report:
The sign is in salvaged, weathered condition consistent with prolonged outdoor use. The surface displays widespread paint loss, heavy scratching, and abrasions throughout the design. Moderate oxidation and surface rust are present, particularly along the outer rim and surrounding the mounting holes. There are minor dents and surface irregularities across the face of the metal.
