Description
This collection includes several wooden trinket and storage boxes featuring folk art and promotional motifs. The group features a miniature cedar chest with a natural wood finish and a metal front latch; the interior of the lid is stamped Lane PRESENTED BY VALLEY FURNITURE 17401 LORAIN CLEVELAND OHIO. Also included is a dark-stained hinged rectangular box with light blue-painted sides decorated with hand-painted waterfowl and shorebirds. The collection contains a book-form sliding-top box finished in a dark stain with a hand-painted oval panel depicting a girl in a blue bonnet and apron. A fourth item is a rectangular oak-framed box with a hinged lid containing a cross-stitched textile insert under glass displaying the initials RKA and floral motifs. Materials used include cedar, oak, various hardwoods, paint, and textile.
The book-form box measures approximately 9 inches by 6 inches.
The miniature cedar chest measures approximately 9 inches in width.
Condition report:
