Description
A collection of blue spongeware pottery produced by the Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Co. of Roseville, Ohio, and other makers. The assembly includes a round stoneware platter, a lidded bean pot, a cylindrical jar, a tall handled mug, and a smaller commemorative mug. Each piece is decorated with cobalt blue sponging over a cream-colored ground. The tall mug features a pictorial cow with black spots, while the smaller mug features a pictorial rooster.
Base markings are as follows:
Platter: Incised STONEWARE, 12, RRP, PAN, USA.
Bean Pot: Black stamp ROBINSON RANSBOTTOM, Roseville, Ohio, U.S.A., Bean Pot, 1 qt.
Jar: Incised R.R.P. Co., Roseville, Ohio, U.S.A., 1 pt. low, 2.
Rooster Mug: Hand-incised NANCY ANDERSON, JUNE 29 1990, and the inscription TIME CANNOT TOUCH TWO HEARTS THAT TRULY LOVE!.
Cow Mug: Stylized A within a diamond geometric mark.
Platter diameter: 12 inches
Bean pot height: 6.5 inches.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition showing standard shelf wear on the unglazed foot rings. No major chips, cracks, or repairs are noted. Minor glaze pops and pits typical of stoneware manufacturing are present.
