Description
A hand-carved and painted wooden folk art sculpture by Joe Kovalovich, executed in the form of an elongated novelty rubber chicken. The sculpture features a pale yellow textured body, small wings, and exceptionally long legs terminating in carved feet with grey-painted claws. The head is detailed with red-painted wattles and a comb, a grey-painted beak, and inset glass or bead eyes. A length of twine cord is tied around the right leg.
24 1/8 inches long
6 1/2 inches wide.
Condition report:
A prominent horizontal crack or seam runs the length of the body and head, likely indicating where sections of wood were joined or natural checking has occurred. There is minor surface wear, scattered abrasions, and small areas of paint loss consistent with age. The twine cord shows light fraying.
