Description
This commemorative set was issued by The Danbury Mint as a Registered Limited Edition memorial to Dwight D. Eisenhower. The set is presented in a blue textured folding folder. It features a silver-toned commemorative medal inset into the front interior, embossed with a portrait of Eisenhower and the dates 1890 and 1969. Below the medal is a philatelic First Day of Issue cover produced by ArtCraft. The cachet is titled In Memoriam Dwight D. Eisenhower 1890-1969 and includes a portrait alongside text citing his roles as Supreme Allied Commander and 34th President of the United States. The envelope is franked with a 6-cent Eisenhower postage stamp and carries a First Day of Issue postmark from Abilene, Kansas, dated October 14, 1969. The cover is addressed to Levi H. Zerr, Jr. of Coatesville, Pennsylvania. The manufacturer’s name, The Danbury Mint, and the edition status are printed in silver lettering on the front of the folder.
Condition report:
The set is in good vintage condition. The interior envelope shows light, even toning consistent with age. The blue textured folder displays minor shelf wear, including slight rubbing at the corners and along the spine. The medal and stamp appear well-preserved.
