Lot 77:
Description
A pair of matching tabletop ceramic Christmas tree lamps, likely produced from a commercial hobbyist mold. The trees are slip-cast earthenware with a glossy deep green glaze, featuring darker tones in the recesses to provide depth to the molded foliage. Each tree is mounted on an integral circular base finished in a brown glaze and decorated with hand-painted holly leaves and red berries. The trees are designed with multiple small apertures throughout the foliage for multicolored translucent plastic peg inserts, allowing light from an internal bulb to shine through. Each tree is equipped with a white clip-in electrical cord featuring an inline rotary thumb switch and a standard two-prong plug. The underside of one tree is hand-incised Joanne Stewart 11-75, identifying the maker as a hobbyist and dating the pieces to November 1975.
Height: 9 inches
Diameter: 5 inches.
Condition report:
The ceramic bodies are in good vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or significant repairs. Both trees are missing several of the plastic peg inserts. The electrical components are present but have not been tested for functionality. Professional rewiring is recommended for regular use.
