Description

A mechanical skeleton mantel clock produced by Thwaites and Reed. The timepiece features a polished brass frame with an openwork scrolling design, exposing the internal spring-driven mechanical movement. It is equipped with a single train and a passing strike mechanism that hits a bell mounted at the top of the frame. The clock features a silvered, skeletonized chapter ring with black Roman numerals and fleur-de-lis half-hour markers, complemented by pierced blued steel hands. The movement is mounted on a circular base covered in green velvet, which is set into a molded, multi-colored onyx plinth. The entire unit is protected by a clear glass dome and includes a brass winding key. The front frame base is inscribed Thwaites and Reed, and the dial is marked Made in England at the bottom center. The rear frame base is inscribed 542/1000S, indicating its status as a limited edition piece.
