Lot 141:
Description
Kinetic Native American balance toy featuring a rider in a feathered headdress on a galloping pinto horse. The figure and horse are constructed from sheet metal with hand-painted details. The horse is finished in white with green-brown patches and a silver-painted tail, while the rider is dressed in a green tunic with red and yellow accents. The assembly is balanced by a curved rod with a spherical metal counterweight, designed to rest on a two-pronged iron stand with a circular base. This piece is a contemporary production created in an antique style to simulate the appearance of early folk art kinetic toys.
Height: 19 inches.
Condition report:
The toy shows intentional distressing and wear to the painted surfaces, including widespread paint chipping, flaking, and heavy craquelure throughout the horse and rider figures. The black-painted iron stand exhibits minor scuffing and light surface oxidation. The kinetic mechanism is complete and in working order.
