Description

A contemporary theorem painting on a cream-colored velvet support, depicting two cats seated on a black and white checkered floor beneath a stylized central tree. The cats are rendered in a primitive folk art style, with one being ginger and white and the other black and white. The tree above them features drooping branches laden with small red cherries. The work is signed B. Updegrove in the lower right corner of the composition. It is housed in a dark brown wood frame with a feathered grain-painted finish. The back of the frame is covered in a tan and red plaid fabric and features a stamped label for the artist, Barbara Updegrove, including a Sanatoga, Pennsylvania address and phone number. A metal sawtooth hanger is affixed to the top center for wall mounting.

11.25 x 13.5 inches.

Condition report:

The painting is in excellent condition with no visible staining, foxing, or fading to the fabric support. The grain-painted frame is structurally sound, showing only minor shelf wear and very light rubbing along the edges.
