Lot 3:
Description
This mixed-media assemblage sculpture is constructed from a repurposed rectangular green metal container and various found objects. The central focus is a cast metal fish in relief, overlaid with non-functional black clock hands. A black sign on the top features block letters spelling FISH, surmounted by a small carved wooden propeller. Decorative elements include a vertical segment of a vintage wooden ruler displaying numbers 62, 63, and 64, a miniature compass at the lower right marked JAPAN, a small circular dial with Roman numerals at the upper right, and a red zig-zag graph wire. The piece stands on three legs fashioned from threaded bolts with gear-shaped feet, and a brown spoked wheel is attached to the right side. The whimsical industrial design features a weathered green painted surface with fine craquelure and intentional distressing.
6.5 x 6.5 inches.
Condition report:
Surface wear and patina consistent with the use of repurposed materials; intentional distressing and craquelure to the green painted body; minor scuffs to the metal fish relief; light oxidation present on various metal components; all elements appear securely attached.
