Lot 82:
Description
This is a primitive American tavern table, commonly known as a cricket table, of solid wood construction. The piece features an oval top with square edges. The base is composed of a decoratively scalloped apron joined to three splayed and tapered square legs using visible wooden peg joinery. The base retains an old mustard-yellow paint finish, while the top has a natural wood finish.
Height: 28.5 inches.
Condition report:
The item shows significant age-related wear. The top surface has multiple dark stains, water rings, and areas of discoloration. The painted finish on the base is heavily distressed with chips and paint loss on the apron and legs. Typical wood shrinkage cracks and minor surface abrasions are present throughout. Joinery remains intact.
