Description

This is a hand-crafted and hand-painted decorative wooden pull wagon modeled after a traditional farm buckboard. The wagon features a raised bench seat and a rear cargo bed. The body is finished in a dark green and cream paint scheme, while the undercarriage and spoked wheels are painted red. The entire piece is accented with extensive cream-colored pinstriping and decorative scrollwork. A hand-painted oval medallion on each side panel depicts a mallard duck in profile. The wagon is constructed primarily from wood with metal rims on the wheels and metal hardware for the axles and steering mechanism. The front axle is designed to pivot for steering when pulled by the long wooden handle. The piece bears several hand-painted marks. A stylized cursive J.S. is located in the upper corner of the green side panels. The handle includes a hand-painted inscription reading J.S. 1986 followed by a flourish, and separate block initials reading R.M.H.

Length: 40 inches
Width: 21 inches
Height: 21 inches.

Condition report:

The wagon is in good overall condition. There is visible paint loss, chipping, and wear along the outer rims and edges of all four wheels, exposing the underlying wood and metal. The interior bed and seat show light surface scuffs consistent with use or display. The hand-painted mallard motifs and decorative pinstriping remain vibrant and largely intact. The wooden structure and steering mechanism are sound.
