Description
This assortment of kitchen items includes a variety of cutlery, utility tools, and decorative ceramics. The cutlery consists of a wooden block containing six knives with black composite handles, one large cleaver with a white riveted handle, and one two-tine serving fork with a wood-grain handle. Two kitchen knives with white handles are included, featuring blades marked FLINT Stainless Vanadium U.S.A. Also present are five small knives with amber-toned handles; these bear a stamped maker’s mark that is not legible. A large offset spatula is constructed with a wooden handle and two rivets. The utility tools include one large solid wood cylindrical rolling pin and one wooden mortar and pestle set, the mortar featuring a natural bark-edge band. Two pairs of wire-frame metal tongs are also part of the collection. The ceramic items comprise a set of two blue and white glazed salt and pepper shakers in the form of Dutch canal houses. One house is marked with blue printed letters JDA on its side. Additionally, there is one large blue and white ceramic butter crock with a matching lid, decorated with a floral pattern and the word Butter in relief.
Condition report:
The collection is in varied, used condition (photo 1). Metal blades show surface oxidation, spotting, and general wear from use, notably on the cleaver and spatula (photo 1). The wooden handles on the spatula and cleaver show signs of drying and age (photo 1). The ceramic items appear to be in good condition with no major chips or cracks visible from the angles shown (photo 1). The natural bark edge on the mortar shows some minor characteristic flaking (photo 1).
