Description
This collection of garden vessels consists of two glazed ceramic pots and two unglazed terracotta pots in various sizes and decorative styles. The first ceramic planter is a large tapered cylindrical vessel featuring a deep cobalt blue glaze and an all-over embossed pattern of a diamond trellis motif with floral accents. The second ceramic planter is a medium-sized pot with a smooth exterior finished in a matching cobalt blue glaze and a flared rim that exposes the light-colored clay body at the top edge. The first terracotta item is a large, shallow bowl-shaped planter with a wide flared rim featuring a fluted or notched decorative edge and an incised wavy horizontal line around the exterior body. The second terracotta item is a medium-sized pot characterized by a prominent scalloped or ruffled rim and a tapered body. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces of any item in the photographs.
Condition report:
All items show evidence of previous outdoor use, including heavy interior soil residue and mineral staining (Photos 1 and 2). The large cobalt blue embossed planter shows a bright, intact glaze with no visible exterior chips or cracks. The medium cobalt blue planter shows heavy interior soil buildup, while the exterior glaze remains in good condition. The large terracotta planter has a significant jagged chip and area of loss along the interior edge of the fluted rim (Photo 1). The medium terracotta planter shows general weathering and interior staining consistent with age and use, but no major structural defects are visible.
