Description
A cast metal wall pocket featuring the high-relief head of a youth wearing a wide-brimmed, ribbed hat, set against a large, realistically veined tobacco leaf. The object is constructed from cast metal, likely brass or bronze, with a dark, aged patina. The leaf features a serrated edge and detailed venation throughout. The reverse side reveals a hollow pocket behind the head of the figure and retains traces of a gilt finish. A simple wire loop is attached to the top stem for hanging. No maker marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the front or reverse surfaces.

Condition report:
The item shows significant signs of age and wear. Extensive oxidation and white mineral deposits are visible on the facial features and within the recesses of the leaf veins (photo 1). A small amount of red residue is present in the mouth of the figure (photo 1). The dark surface finish is worn down to the base metal along the leaf edges and the hat brim (photo 1, photo 3). The reverse side shows heavy surface grime, pitting, and substantial loss of the original gilding (photo 2).
