Description
A set of eight dinner knives featuring sterling silver handles and stainless steel blades in the Craftsman pattern by Towle. This pattern, introduced in 1932, is characterized by a modernist Art Deco aesthetic with four-sided tapered handles and beveled terminals. The handles are constructed of sterling silver, while the blades are composed of stainless steel. Each blade features a two-line stamped mark at the bolster reading TOWLE on the upper line and STAINLESS on the lower line. The characters are clearly legible on the blade surfaces. The handles are plain and free of any monograms or personalized engravings.
Condition report:
The sterling silver handles show a visible patina and moderate tarnish consistent with age, as seen in photos 1 and 2. The stainless steel blades exhibit light surface scratching from typical use, visible in photo 1. There are no signs of significant damage such as deep nicks to the blade edges or heavy denting to the weighted handles.
