Lot 164:
Description
This lot consists of a pair of gold-plated United States Eisenhower Bicentennial Dollars, presented in their original promotional packaging from Sun Bank. Each coin is held in a black cardboard mount featuring gold-toned text that reads SUN BANK BICENTENNIAL DOLLAR. The obverse design features the profile of Dwight D. Eisenhower with the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the dual date 1776-1976. The reverse displays the Liberty Bell superimposed on the moon, a design by Dennis R. Williams with his initials DRW visible below the bell. The reverse also includes the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and ONE DOLLAR. These items are standard-issue copper-nickel clad coins produced by the United States Mint that have been decoratively plated with gold. There are no markings indicating the gold weight or purity.
Condition report:
Both coins show heavy surface wear, including extensive scratching, handling marks, and areas of discoloration to the gold plating. The cardboard holders exhibit minor edge wear and scuffing to the gold-colored lettering.
