Description

This is an official US American Revolution Bicentennial commemorative medal, struck in antique bronze and dated 1976. The obverse features a Thomas Jefferson design type with a Liberty Bell and is inscribed JULY 4, 1776 and PHILADELPHIA. The reverse features a bald eagle and Independence Hall design type, inscribed BICENTENNIAL, 1976, and FREEDOM. Designer initials FG for Frank Gasparro are visible on the reverse. The medal is housed in its original black cardboard display card with a clear plastic seal. The packaging identifies the piece as an Official American Revolution Bicentennial Medal and indicates it was distributed as a community service through participating institutions. This medal was authorized by Congress and struck by the US Mint.


Condition report:

The medal appears to be in uncirculated condition with original dark antique bronze patination. The clear plastic seal remains intact. The cardboard display card shows minor shelf wear, including small edge scuffs and a circular mark on the lower right of the reverse side.
