Description
This hand-carved wooden duck decoy depicts a male Canvasback drake, featuring the distinctive form associated with the Chesapeake Bay carving tradition. The underside of the decoy is impressed with two maker marks reading BODT, identifying the piece as the work of the Bodt brothers of Maryland. The decoy is constructed from solid wood and features a reddish-brown head with a black bill and red eyes, a black chest and tail, and a cream-colored body. Hand-painted feathering details are visible along the back. The base is fitted with a central wooden keel and a metal eyelet for an anchor line attachment.

Condition report:
Good vintage condition. The piece exhibits wear consistent with age and field use, including minor paint scuffs, light surface abrasions, and small areas of paint loss. Some visible wood grain and minor checking are present on the underside.
