Lot 140:
Description
A contemporary folk art soft sculpture of a bird, identified by the original maker’s tag as the work of Bev Walters. This piece is crafted in a primitive American aesthetic, featuring a hand-stitched bird form constructed from a heavy-weight olive drab or faded green textile with visible seams. The bird is detailed with a small black bead eye and a secondary blue and white patterned fabric visible at the junction where the body meets the pedestal. The bird is mounted on a heavy cast metal base with a dark, patinated finish, appearing to be repurposed from antique hardware. The item retains its original paper hang tag which reads Folk Art by Bev Walters and SPINNING WHEEL.
Height: 9.25 inches
Length: 10 inches.
Condition report:
The sculpture is in excellent condition. The textile components show intentional signs of primitive styling, such as raw edges and slight surface fading. The cast metal base retains a dark, mottled patina consistent with its manufacture. There are no significant tears, stains, or repairs noted.
