Description
This lot consists of two decorative tabletop frames designed in the Rococo revival style. The first is an Italian gilt mirror featuring an oval glass plate set within a pierced frame constructed of composition or carved wood with a gold gilt finish. The frame is decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves and deep C-scrolls. The reverse is stamped with the text MADE IN ITALY in black ink. The second item is an oval cast metal photo frame with a verdigris patina and gold-toned highlights. The frame features an openwork design of scrolled foliage and a central shell crest. The reverse is fitted with a hinged metal stand.
Mirror: 13.5 inches x 9.5 inches
Photo frame: 10 inches x 7.5 inches.
Condition report:
The gilt mirror frame has minor chips and wear to the finish on the protruding edges. The mirror glass shows small scattered spots of foxing. The backing is missing one metal clip at the bottom. The verdigris metal frame is in excellent decorative condition with an intact patina and functional stand.
