Description
A collection of studio pottery consisting of six pieces including a large vase, a small decorated vessel, a plate, and a three piece serving set. The large stoneware vase features a flared, ribbed body finished in a mottled reddish-brown glaze, topped with a multi-toned crystalline-style drip glaze at the rim in shades of blue, green, and gold. The base is incised with the mark Lee. A small ovoid stoneware vessel is finished in a light grey glaze decorated with vertical rows of cobalt blue dots and bears an incised signature beginning with the letter W on the underside. A small circular stoneware plate is finished in a glossy uniform brown glaze and is incised Lee Hughes on the reverse. The three piece cream-glazed set includes one circular bowl and two rounded-rectangular trays, all featuring iron-oxide spotting and an incised stylized character resembling a script e on the underside.
Large Vase: 7.5 inches (h) x 6.5 inches (rim diameter).
Condition report:
All pieces in the collection appear to be in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The cream-glazed pieces show typical kiln-firing marks at the edges. The small dotted vessel retains four green felt pads on the base.
