Description
This enamel on metal work by artist Harold A. Laynor features a whimsical, stylized composition of elongated animal figures, likely kangaroos or wallabies. The piece utilizes a vibrant palette of yellow, deep blue, and green against a mottled background, accented by colorful abstract forms at the bottom. The style is characteristic of Mid-Century Modern decorative arts with a folk-art influence. The artwork is presented in a deep, square wooden shadowbox frame with a gray-washed finish. The verso is secured with a rectangular metal plate. Affixed to the back is a business card for Dr. Harold A. Laynor Studios and Galleries with locations in Millersville, Pennsylvania and Smithville, New Jersey. A paper label is also attached to the top of the frame on the reverse, which reads ANIMAL and HAROLD LAYNOR.

Condition report:
The metal backing plate on the verso shows heavy surface oxidation and rust. The wooden frame exhibits minor scuffing and wear to the corners and edges. Light surface dust and dirt are present on the frame interior and exterior. A small hole from a tack is visible at the bottom center of the wooden frame on the reverse. The primary enamel surface appears well-preserved with no visible loss or craquelure.
