Description
This original watercolor and gouache painting on paper by Key West artist Anthony De Andrea features the word FLORIDA rendered in a calligraphic, iconographic style. Each letter is composed of tropical and regional motifs: the F is a palm tree and sailfish, the L is two dolphins, the O is a marsh sunset, the R is a lighthouse and roseate spoonbill, the I is butterflies and flowers, and the DA is a heron in grass. The work utilizes bright, saturated pigments in both transparent and opaque layers. The piece is signed and dated A De Andrea 2000 Key West FL in the lower right corner. The painting is professionally housed in a custom green frame with seafoam and salmon-colored matting. The back of the frame is sealed with a black dust cover and carries a label from Rag Shop Professional Custom Framing.

Condition report:
The painting and frame are in excellent condition. The colors remain vibrant with no visible evidence of light-induced fading. The paper is clean and shows no foxing or moisture damage. The mats are free of debris and acid burn. The frame is structurally sound with negligible wear to the finish.
