Description

A framed Chinese print executed in ink and color. The composition depicts a traditional bird and flower motif featuring two white birds perched on a gnarled, flowering branch adorned with red and cream-colored blossoms, likely magnolias. The work is signed at the lower left in English cursive as Yong Xiang Lee. The right side features a vertical inscription of six Chinese characters followed by two red square artist seals. The piece is set within a green mat and a dark-stained wood frame under glass. A stamped label on the reverse from Framed Picture Enterprise in Memphis, Tennessee, marks the framing date as May 5, 1959, with order number 525 and item number 2H.

Condition report:

The painted silk surface is in good condition with no visible signs of foxing, fading, or moisture damage. The wood frame shows moderate age-related wear, including minor nicks, surface scratches, and a small area of finish loss at the top center. The green matting is intact with slight discoloration from age. The paper dust cover on the reverse is heavily worn with multiple tears and punctures.
