Description
A vintage baby carriage featuring a boat-shaped body constructed of woven wicker with a decorative rolled edge, finished in a cream-colored paint. The carriage is equipped with a matching, adjustable folding wicker hood and a solid painted wooden interior floor. A distinctive feature is the hinged rear panel of the wicker body, which can be lowered. The body is supported by a black-painted metal chassis designed with C-scroll spring suspension. The carriage sits on four large, thin-spoked metal wheels fitted with solid rubber tires. The push-handle consists of two long, curved metal bars connected by a decorative turned wooden grip. No maker marks, labels, or inscriptions are visible on the metal frame, hubcaps, or hood hardware.
Condition report:
The carriage is in good vintage condition overall. The wicker body and adjustable hood remain largely intact with minor surface wear and occasional small breaks consistent with age. There is general yellowing and light soiling to the cream-colored paint. The metal chassis shows areas of minor surface oxidation, scuffing, and paint loss. The wooden handle grip exhibits a well-worn patina and minor surface checking. The rubber tires are present but show signs of drying and age-related wear.
