Description
A group of assorted hand-woven baskets featuring various materials and construction techniques. The collection includes several splint-woven examples, with some pieces displaying dyed horizontal bands in red and green. One large basket is designed with a fixed hoop handle. Another substantial item is crafted from woven willow with a thick, twisted central handle and a decorative painted wooden tag depicting a birdhouse. Smaller pieces include a cylindrical basket with a red-painted wire handle and another cylindrical basket adorned with a hand-shaped wooden charm that includes a heart-shaped fabric insert and the hand-inscribed name JOAN. One basket exhibits a bulbous profile with twisted willow handles and decorative bands of green and red dyed reed or seagrass. The assortment demonstrates a variety of weaving styles including plain, twill, and randing.
