Lot 102:
Description
This lot features a diverse collection of hand-carved and painted wooden objects, including decoys and decorative folk art. The primary items include a seated gnome figurine wearing a tall orange hat and holding a Canada goose decoy in its lap. The avian carvings include a shorebird decoy resembling an American Avocet with an upward-curved beak and orange-brown head, a Canvasback-style duck decoy with a reddish-brown head and light gray body, and a Pintail-style duck decoy featuring a patterned gray body and a functional cord with a carved wooden anchor weight. A reversible whale carving is present, finished as an orca with black and white markings on one side and a solid dark brown on the opposite side. Other carvings include a small songbird resembling a Tufted Titmouse and an irregular white carved object. The collection also contains a rectangular wooden plaque with a sand-encrusted surface and embedded seashells, a stack of wooden blocks with painted hearts and an American flag motif, a small white cube with a blue letter I, a yellow block with hand-painted floral motifs, and a section of a natural wood branch. The items are constructed primarily of wood and finished with polychrome paint.
Condition report:
The collection is in overall good condition, showing minor surface wear, small paint scuffs, and natural aging consistent with hand-crafted folk art. The sand-encrusted plaque shows minor loss to the sand texture around the edges. No significant structural repairs or damages are visible.
