Description
A hand-carved folk art wooden walking stick or cane, resembling the dragon-headed style found in contemporary folk carvings. The handle is fashioned into a stylized animal head with textured fur-like detailing and inset yellow bead eyes. The shaft is carved in a continuous spiral or barber-pole twist and is decorated with a hand-painted checkered pattern in red and black. The base of the shaft is finished with a light-colored ferrule. There are no maker marks, signatures, or labels present on the item.

Condition report:
The cane is in used condition with visible signs of age. There is significant and widespread paint loss, chipping, and weathering to the red and black checkered finish along the entire length of the shaft. The carved wood exhibits surface abrasions and small indentations consistent with frequent use. The ferrule at the base shows scuffing and discoloration.
