Lot 111:
Description
This lot features two vintage bulb-operated medical or apothecary atomizers. The larger unit is a DeVilbiss atomizer, constructed with a clear glass reservoir that has a flared, footed base for stability. It is fitted with a nickel-plated metal delivery assembly and a long nozzle. The grey rubber squeeze bulb is embossed with the manufacturer name DeVilbiss. The second item is an Atlas Jr. Atomizer, a compact model consisting of an amber glass bottle reservoir, a black composition screw-on cap, and a chrome-plated metal delivery stem. This unit comes with its original red cardboard retail box, which features a black horizontal band with the printed text ATLAS JR. ATOMIZER. These devices were commonly used for delivering medicinal sprays to the nose and throat during the mid-20th century.
Condition report:
The items are in vintage condition and have not been tested for mechanical function. The grey rubber bulb on the DeVilbiss unit shows visible surface aging, hardening, and fine cracking. The black rubber bulb on the Atlas Jr. unit appears better preserved but displays typical surface wear. Metal components on both atomizers show light oxidation and surface scratches consistent with age. The glass reservoirs for both items are intact and show no visible chips, cracks, or heavy clouding. The red cardboard box shows shelf wear, rubbing at the edges, and minor surface staining.
