Description
A Sid Dickens Memory Block titled The Messenger, model T-362. This mixed media work features a relief-molded dragonfly with a dark textured body and gilded wing highlights. The insect is set against a background transitioning from a crackled turquoise upper section to a cream-colored lower section with decorative cursive script. The piece is constructed on a thick plaster or composite support. The side of the block is impressed with the text SID DICKENS VANCOUVER CANADA. The reverse is finished in pink paint and includes a recessed circular hanging hole, a grey title label with a poem, and a white manufacturer stamp. The verso is hand-signed and dated Sid Dickens 2011 in silver-toned marker.
Condition report:
The block shows intentional surface distressing, including a crackled glaze and darkened edges. There are minor scuffs on the sides and small traces of pink pigment on the cream side edges. No structural damage or repairs are visible.
