Description
This collection consists of three mid-20th-century porcelain figurative busts produced by the Cordey China Company. Each piece is constructed from glazed porcelain featuring hand-painted polychrome decoration and gilt highlights. The subjects are depicted in Victorian-style attire with delicate applied porcelain elements. The first bust depicts a blonde woman wearing a wide-brimmed yellow hat with a blue ribbon and a lace-textured dress adorned with applied pink roses. The second bust features a gentleman with a mustache wearing a lavender fedora with a striped band, a gray suit jacket with black lapels, and a lavender cravat. The third bust depicts a woman with brown hair in tight curls wearing a black floral-trimmed hat and a gray dress with a ruffled lace collar and a pink jabot. The underside of the lady in the yellow hat is marked with the handwritten script Cordey and the number 5020. The gentleman bust is unmarked. The lady in the black hat is marked with the handwritten number 3000-37 in blue ink.Height: 7 to 7.5 inches.
Condition report:
The figurines are in good vintage condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or significant losses to the delicate applied porcelain flowers or lace textures. Minor shelf wear and localized discoloration are present on the unglazed rims of the bases. There is light wear to the gilt accents consistent with age. No evidence of professional repairs or restorations was observed.
